Reading and Writing Classes
We offer two levels of advanced, academic English courses for students whose first or primary language is not English. In these courses, students will develop skills in essay writing, academic vocabulary, and research. By taking these classes, students will be better prepared to succeed in English 1A.听 You can choose to take these classes for credit or as a noncredit class.听听*ESL 40 qualifies for CSU elective credit.

Beginning and Intermediate Noncredit Classes
Noncredit ESL classes are offered at a variety of locations throughout Merced County. These classes are for students who want to improve their English skills before taking credit classes. These classes are free. Click here to听visit the noncredit page.
